Artist Statement:

My inspiration comes from my native place, reflecting my travel experiences. Whether
by bike, bus, car, or train, I capture and extract moments from these journeys and transfer them into my
artwork usually with graphite. The scenes that I chose to render are suspended in a distant time, or
seem to emerge from the viewer's imagination. I want viewers to initially perceive my work as plain
photographs or postcards, but upon closer inspection, they would discover the intricacies of a graphite
drawing and coffee wash, which I use as an experimental medium.

Biography:

Irfan Channa (1998) from Shikarpur, Sindh, is a contemporary artist currently based in Lahore.
He studied at the National College of Arts, Lahore, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting)
degree in 2019. Channa works across various mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and photography. His work focuses on the wonders and mysteries of nature, drawing connections with local human memory.
