Description

Artist Statement:

My work is inspired by a local dying craft of Chitral and
it is based on the idea of sustainability, working with
artisans, natural materials and weaving on hand loom.
The idea was to introduced more colors and new
patterns in it without harming its actual essence. I
developed my pieces by the same method of hand
weaving, used different natural materials to dye the
wool which haven't been used before and induced new
patterns in it which indirectly means to expand the
market of the craft.


Biography:

Kainat Iqbal belongs to Chitral, KPK. She graduated
from the Textile Department in 2024 from National College of Arts, Lahore.
Her work is inspired by the local craft of her hometown.
