Orange and Blue - Shafia Shafiq

Artist Statement:

Shafia quirkily connects art and body, drawing influence from the transformative potential of subjects, her practice embodying illusions, portrays naked bodies in ways that mimic landscapes or evoke surrealism. An interdisciplinary approach compasses painting, body painting, photography, art direction, makeup artistry, and special effects in her paintings. Her philosophy
involves a continuous transfiguration from painting to photography, with skin tones serving as a consistent reference. Her creative process implies palette knife painting on canvas, employing the body as a canvas through body painting, and catching the results in photos printed on various mediums.

Biography:

Shafia Shafiq, born in Kashmir, is a Fine Arts graduate from National College of Arts, Lahore. She had her debut show at Daastangoi in March 2023 and participated in LDF 2023’s ‘Metaverse Bodies’ traversing her artistic journey. Currently, she lives and works in Lahore.
