HS 22- Hasheem Tahir

Artist Statement:

We often view the city we've known since birth from a single perspective, whether it's
the inner city, suburbs, or remaining aloof from other parts and their lifestyles. However, looking at
simple apps like Google Earth or Google Maps, or watching drone footage of a drama or national song,
the bird's-eye view changes the whole perspective of the city, turning it from planned to unplanned. All
the details vanish, converting into cubic-like shapes. Streets and roads appear as lines, and buildings
take on shapes of 4, 5, or even 6-sided forms.

Biography:

Hasheem Tahir, born in Lahore, Punjab, is known for his distinctive murals that reflect a deep
understanding of both the old and new aspects of Lahore. His murals often feature the use of lines,
which create barriers and geometric shapes, transforming the streets of Lahore into a canvas. As an artist, Tahir aims to challenge and inspire viewers, encouraging them to see the city in new and innovative ways.
